• Recursive Design group - development of an object-model-to-C++ compiler for use with a Shlaer-Mellor modeling tool.


Both group lead positions entailed both administrative and direct technical contributions varying from architecting a custom compiler targeted at embedded C++, to designing and coding the persistence and redundancy subsystems for an embedded telecom product, to coordinating schedules, eliminating obstacles to progress, and coaching less experienced developers on technical decisions.

Alcatel Network Systems (5/15/95 - 7/12/96)

• Developed framework for encapsulating Versant database for 'C++' application development across two groups involved in ATM-based Commercial Video Delivery products.
• Used Java to develop GUI user interface applications providing limited  provisioning capability for the AN1000 ATM switch.
• Used Java to develop the management backend to work with proprietary provisioning protocol for the AN1000.
• Developed service layer control daemons for soft real-time video delivery across networks, using TCP, UDP, and RPC as well as prorietary protocols.
• Assigned to mentor several software engineers making the paradigm shift from 'C' to 'C++', while working on CMIP manager for the AN1000.
• Developed network protocol test harnesses in 'Perl', developed database provisioning language and compiler, developed database browser with GUI using Motif widgets.
• Developed a cgi application for documenting, formatting and viewing C++ source code stored in Clearcase.

Random Games (5/20/94 - 12/30/94)

• Part of a team working on ports of 'C' and 'C++' graphics intense applications from MS Windows to Macintosh.
• Presented a short series of seminars on 'C++' for 'C' programmers.  (During my employment 90% of my work was 'C', but several clients were requesting 'C++' contracts; part of my job was to service early contracts and pave the way for others.
